...do pass on our warmest thanks to our friends from the North (Head), they were absolutely fantastic as expected, actually I had forgotten quite how good they were!
(RNLI Charity fundraiser, March 2019)
Live music is so special, and you and the Head North team were absolutely perfect - thank you very much indeed for making our day even better than it already was!
We were very lucky to have Head North play at our wedding. They were incredible!! Going over and above to make sure we were happy. They even learnt our favourite song so that we could have it as our first dance. Everyone commented on how amazing the music was and the dance floor was packed from start to finish. The communication and organisation of the band was second to none and we would highly recommend them. Can’t wait to hear them play again in the future!
(Wedding, March 2018)
“Thanks so much to you and the band for such a fantastic evening last week! You are sounding so good these days, and so many people said what a treat it was to hear all those lovely tunes and songs that you do so well. It really made the whole thing go with such a swing”
(Charity Gig, July 2017)
“Head North played at the CIS Excellence Awards 2017 at the Hilton Glasgow: with high energy reels and jigs and a refreshing approach to performance, they brought huge energy and vitality to our awards event. To be recommended to anyone looking for performance with broad appeal and dynamic delivery. Simply, great stuff!
(Corporate Event, May 2017)
“Head North are amazing. They got 120 people aged from 18 to 80 dancing non-stop for 1 hour and 40 minutes. They were a great headline act and could not have been better. We loved them!”
(Private Party, August 2016)
“You were so good at J and T's wedding we were very sorry when you stopped. Well done all of you!”
(Wedding, June 2016)
Once again Head North proved to be an enormous attraction and everybody loved you! Your music appeals to all, young and old, and I loved seeing youngsters bopping and oldies swaying and generally everyone so focussed on the music.
(Hampshire Garden Festival June 2018)
The Head North concert in the Thomas Lord pub in West Meon was a real highlight of this year's festival.
Everyone at the concert loved their infectious energy and were wowed by their amazing technical abilities.
Their ensemble skills were particularly impressive with each member of the band able to solo out, yet be
perfectly in tune and together with each other when supporting, even the most complex cross-rhythms were perfectly executed.
(Andrew Fuller, Director, West Meon Music Festival, November 2017)
"It was just fantastic to hear Head North again. You are an amazing band, and we could have listened to you all day. Thanks so much to everyone for sharing your inspirational music, and for creating such a wonderful atmosphere at the Hampshire Garden Festival"
(Hampshire Garden Festival June 2017)
“This band were the show stoppers when they performed for us in March 2015. Amazing music from slow airs to breakneck speed jigs and reels. Wonderful songs sung in glorious harmony made this a concert to remember. When asked to do an encore we were treated to a full 12 minutes of brilliant music!!! We are sure that everyone who came to this concert will return and bring friends. So when we were planning our guests for this year "Head North" were at the top of the list.”
(Green Man Folk Club: November 2016)
“On the Larch stage I heard the enchanting lyrical sounds of Head North. The vocalist’s voice was stunning as they played a beautiful slow celtic folk song. They picked things up with ‘Galway Girl’ and then sped things up further playing a proper jig, complete with banjo, fiddle & accordion. They were up there with the best bands I saw all weekend”

‘Garvellach Isles’ offers 14 tracks ranging widely through interpretations of the Scottish musical tradition to heritage-inspired originals ... foot-stomping to Garvellach - head northheart-touching. The result is an album of considerable quality, clear musical strength with equally obvious vocal potency, and if ‘Garvellach Isles’ receives the hearing it richly deserves then there should be no isolation for Head North. ……………….Their freshness of approach and readily apparent vivacity, augmented by an ability to present tradition, in its widest sense, through arrangements and self-penned tunes, must lead this band towards a bright future. In short, in the intensely-populated world of music, Head North is worth noticing and ‘Garvellach Isles’ an album worth owning.
“We have enjoyed your CD so much and we wanted to give copies to the family for Christmas. I defy anyone not to be uplifted by the wonderful melodies!”
